In this Assignment, you’ll be taking the first step towards your Final Presentation, which will be creating and delivering your own TED Talk. This will be given in Week 7 and will be 3 to 4 minutes long.
Here’s how to start:
Here’s an article that explains the entire process: “How to write a TED Talk like a pro” Here is a list of ‘topics’ to choose from: “List of Values” Please type your answers on a MS Word document and upload it before the due date.
1. From the “List of Values,” which idea is the one idea you’re most passionate about? Why do you feel so strongly about it?
2. Please write your topic as one sentence.
3. What personal experience have you had with this idea?
4. What do you want to ‘teach’ your audience about this idea?
5. How do you plan to get your audience to care about your idea?
6. What’s one ‘assumption’ about your idea that you’d like to challenge?
7. What is a belief that you used to have about your idea, and how has that belief changed?
8. To give your talk some credibility, you’ll need to incorporate some Logos about your topic that you’ll gain through research. Specify what you’ll be researching. This Logos needs to come from one of Berkeley’s Databases, not from any other source. You can use any one (or more) of the databases. To access Berkeley’s databases, go to the “Library” tab, click on “A to Z Databases,” and peruse their alphabetized list. I like to use ProQuest Central for any research that I need to do because it has such a huge variety of sources.
